It is a semi-tempered material that is twice as robust as annealed glass. It is mechanically and thermally stronger than annealed glass of the same width and thickness. Heat-strengthened glass is more difficult to break than annealed glass. The fundamental float glass used in this form of glass is heated to a very high temperature before being progressively cooled. It experiences less internal stress because cooling occurs more quickly than Annealed glass but slower than Tempered glass.
